Exhibition in Sanctuary Gallery at Arts Incarnate
I received an email from the Gallery Director at Arts Incarnate in Harrisonburg, Va., a few days ago. He was looking for a fill-in artist to display work for the next month, and I quickly accepted. I had attended an opening earlier in the summer at Arts Incarnate and had marveled at the renovations that had turned a commercial building into the home of the Church of the Incarnation, renovations that included gallery space in the lobby and in the sanctuary.
According to the church’s website, “Arts Incarnate is an outreach arm of the church, and its purpose is to engage with the local Downtown Harrisonburg community arts scene. Through all genres of the fine, visual, and performing arts, the mission of Arts Incarnate is to seek and experience Beauty, Truth, and Justice through the Arts.” It’s a beautiful space, and I am thankful for the opportunity share my corner of the world with members and visitors to the church during this holy month.
Thank you, Arts Incarnate for supporting the arts!
A little background on these paintings…
These paintings stretch back over 10 years of my painting life. The oldest is “Mumbles & Squeaks,” and that painting represents a moment when I began to find my voice as an artist. Several others are from my “Extraordinary | Everyday” series, which highlights hidden gems from my small town of Wardensville, W.Va. The most recent pieces are “Radiant Walk,” “Sunflower Sunset”, and “Lost River Valley,” which show my continued development as a painter as I’ve become more interested in interpretations of the landscape, born from my plein air practice of on-location painting. I hope you enjoy.
On Display at Arts Incarnate from Dec. 5 – Dec. 30, 2024
Prices for the paintings are noted on the captions of the gallery images below (mouse over or click on the thumbnail images to display the painting title and price information). Paintings must remain on display at Arts Incarnate through the end of the exhibition.
